Chocolate Coffee Smoothie
Hi and welcome back to Ria Lives Well!
I have a new favorite powerhouse smoothie. Once you see it’s two main ingredients, you’ll understand why it’s my new fave.
This smoothie has…
Chocolate. Yum yum.
Two of my favorite pick-me-ups. When I wake up early for class and I have zero time and -20 below zero interest to make a healthy breakfast, I just make a powerhouse smoothie the night before, stick it in the freezer and take it on the go come morning. This is the kind of treat we need while lugging the weight of sleep to school or to work.
Like the high school girl who falls in love with a boy every week, that’s me with smoothies. This particular smoothie is perfect because it incorporates two of my three favorite ingredients: chocolate and coffee. Bread, coffee, chocolate. Ria’s Holy Food Trinity. I seriously need to live in Europe.
Edited to change measurements: 1 banana instead of 1/2. 1 cup of coffee instead of 1/2. Tastes much better this way!
Chocolate Coffee Smoothie:
- 1 cup strong brewed coffee (the best you can afford)
- 1 banana (frozen)
- cinnamon sugar blend (1/4 tsp brown sugar, 1/4 tsp cane sugar, 1/4 tsp cinnamon combined)
- 4 coconut milk cubes
- 1 tablespoon chocolate ganache
- 1 teaspoon protein powder (optional)
- splash of vanilla extract
Throw everything into a blender and blend until smooth. Top with banana, chocolate chips and cinnamon-sugar.
Talk about a delicious morning smoothie. The caffeine hits me halfway on my drive to school. Right before I reach the roundabout, I’m a zombie; then on the other side, I’m screaming: “Alright, alright! Let’s do diiiis!” It’s a really strange and disturbing transition.
You can also enjoy this chocolate coffee smoothie as a healthy dessert or a post workout snack. Don’t you just love the versatility of a smoothie?
